REVIEW: Neogen Bio-peel gauze peeling wine

While most dermatologists and estheticians agree that exfoliating is a great way to remove dead skin cells, overdoing it (either by using harsh ingredients, or physical exfoliants made of rough, gritty particles, or doing it too often) can actually harm your skin.

There are two types of exfoliating agents: physical and chemical. Both types of exfoliations serve to remove dead skin cells, but physical exfoliants are made of rough, gritty particles like ground apricot pits, salt grains, sugar (looking at you, St Ives apricot scrub). Loofah sponges, bristled facial brushes, and other motorized facial brushes are also considered physical exfoliators. Physical exfoliation can be too harsh for some, as you are literally physically removing the dead skin.

Not-so-fun fact, do you guys know what this is?

For those that don’t, it’s a Korean body scrub mitten. It is super rough, and definitely NOT intended to be used in the face. When I was younger and suffering from acne, I used one of these to “scrub away” my acne and my skin almost peeled off! I say this from experience, do NOT do it! But I digress…

The other type of exfoliant is the chemical exfoliant. Their formulation includes acids that help get rid of dead skin cells. The most common acids used as chemical exfoliants are Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs, which tend to come from fruits) and Beta hydroxy acids (BHAs, such as salicylic acid and topic acid).

I’ve tried many exfoliants through my life, until I found “the” one that is gentle enough for everyday use (although, since I now have dry skin, I only use it twice a week) but gives you that squeaky clean feeling.

This exfoliating pad contains both the physical exfoliant (in the form of a super gentle gauze pad) and the chemical exfoliant in one beautiful, simple to use, exfoliating perfection!

The physical exfoliant here is a super gently gauze pad. The pad has two texturized sides: one side is the gauze side, which you can use first to gently exfoliate your skin, and the second side is a cotton pad, which you can then use to remove the dead cells and “wipe” all the leftover gunk (makeup, oil, etc).

The chemical exfoliant is a wine serum containing potent antioxidants like Resveratro, known to repair damaged cells and promote the growth of healthy cells.

These convenient cotton gauze peeling pads will leave you skin looking smoother, brighter, tighter, and healthier.
